We are happy to announce that the Corral Road site will be open for viewing the final historic launch of the United Launch Alliance Delta II rocket carrying the NASA ICESat-2 mission (including ELFIN). The rocket will lift-off from Vandenberg Air Force Base's Space Launch Complex 2 at 5:46 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
The Corral Road viewing site will open at 4:00 a.m. Parking is available for visitors at the Vandenberg Middle School parking lot. From there, visitors will board a bus to be taken to the Corral Road viewing site. Please note that the bus can only accommodate 27 visitors at a time, so please plan accordingly. It's also important to note that there is no personal vehicle or bus parking at the viewing site. We must do this because there are no facilities or safe areas to park vehicles. The last shuttle will depart the Vandenberg Middle School parking lot at 5:25 a.m. so that visitors may be situated to view lift-off.
There is no overnight parking or camping allowed at either Vandenberg Middle School nor the Corral Road viewing site. Trespassers will be cited and escorted from the base.
Visitors may only carry items that will fit on their lap during the shuttle ride to the viewing site. Bulky items such as chairs, coolers, etc. will not be allowed on the shuttle bus. As to the banner, please do not block other guest view of the launch site when displaying it. Also, please do not affix it to any building or structure.
There is no drop off site to Corral Road. Access to the road is restricted. Persons attempting to drop off passengers will be turned away without the passenger being able to disembark. Please use the Vandenberg Middle School parking lot as your single embarkation site.
